Summary of Questionaire survey on firm involvement in marine renewable energies

The project conducted a survey to firms active or potentially interested in marine renewable energies, with a view to identify the firms that are forming the new industrial value chain and to obtain information of their activities and perceptions. A document was produced summarizing the results of the questionnaire that was sent to the respondents. This document is only available in Portuguese.

OceanTrans organises FINAL conference

OceanTrans Final Conference discussed the transformative potential of renewable energy technologies, with a particular focus on marine energies. The event was opened by the Secretary of State for Maritime Affairs and had over one hundred participants.

OCEANTRANS PARTICIPATES IN THE EUROPEAN RESEARCHERS' NIGHT

OceanTrans project participated in the elaboration of the Quiz - Cut on Carbon, in the scope of the European Researchers’ Night that took place on the 24th of September 2021. The theme of this quiz approaches the change to a life high on emotions and low on carbon.

The Royal Geographic Society (with the Institute of British Geographers) Annual International Conference took place, in London, between 31 august and 3 september 2021. In this online conference, the OceanTrans project presented a paper which reflects on the spatial dimension of the emergence and early development of the wave energy technologies.

3rd Plenary Meeting of the OceanTrans Project

At the beginning of September, the third plenary meeting of the OceanTrans project took place. The event was held remotely using a digital platform. Members of the three partner institutions of the project were present: DINAMIA'CET from ISCTE-IUL, LNEG and CEGOT from the University of Porto.

The Museum of the Orient, in Lisbon, receives on December 4, the Wavec Offshore Renewables Annual Seminar on the theme “Portugal and Norway: Marine Renewable Energy and Offshore Aquaculture”. Portugal and Norway are often regarded as pioneering countries in the development of marine renewable energy technologies.

ISCTE launches a degree in Data Science

The study investigates the variety in place configurations around a sustainable technology, in its early phase of development. Adopting a systemic and multi-scalar approach to technology development, this article proposes that the spatially distributed nature of technology emergence leads to the formation of different place configurations of actors and networks around the technology, which can contribute in different ways to its development.

The paper "Sectoral and territorial effects of experimentation at early stages of energy innovations: Lessons from 20 years of marine renewable technologies in Portugal" co-authored by Margarida Fontes, Mariana Aguiar e Nuno Bento and presenting results of the research conducted by OceanTrans project, was awarded an Honourable Mention in the Finisterra 2022 Best Article Award. The award session took place on 19th October 2023, at IGOT-University of Lisbon.
